Anna Wolf: Life in Metaphors

I'VE BEEN OBSESSING OVER Anna Wolf since she first sent me her music a few years ago. I love her alternative sound, and I get excited to see anything she releases. She recently dropped a new single that I'm enamored with, entitled "Mother," and I think Anna is a master at vocal delivery, songwriting and music production. She can sound like a lot of different singers all in the same song, but "Mother" is especially a masterpiece of production.

The Vogts Sisters: Old Mountain Music

THE VOGTS SISTERS ARE an Americana-Folk duo from the midwest with soft, haunting voices fluttering together in perfect harmony over their special blend of ethereal, finger-picking goodness. The sisters compliment each other in an otherworldly way, their harmonies unexpected and seamless. They've got something special, and their latest album is the perfect one to add to your forest-wandering playlist. Each and every song on the album is impeccably arranged, produced and performed. There's not a single skip, each track teaming with its own unique magic that brings the entire body of work together in a beautiful way. The sisters are self-taught musicians, but they sound like old souls who've been singing for decades, evoking a peaceful spirit of American folk and Appalachian roots. We love the simplicity and mystical feeling of the arrangements, the smooth harmonies at times tugging at our heart strings, luring us in to listen to the next track.

Droopy G: G Street Muzik

WHEN WE FIRST REVIEWED Droopy G’s song “G Mayne,” he had just come onto the music scene in downtown Springfield, Missouri. Since then, he has found his stride in the local hip hop scene, booking shows with local and national acts, and dropping a new album entitled G Street Muzik.

Music Review: Eden by Plake

HUNTER PLAKE CAPTURED OUR attention when he was a contestant on Season 12 of The Voice. His unique arrangements of songs like “Elastic Heart,” “All I Want” and “I Want To Know What Love Is” gave us a taste of his ability to evoke chills with his pristine voice and the genius of his musicianship.

Gabe Lopez: God Bless the Queens

POP ROCKER GABE LOPEZ has released his much anticipated 13-song album, God Bless the Queens, and we can’t stop listening! Featured in Issue 14 of Deitra Magazine, Lopez knocked us out with the music video for his single release of “Lasso.” But the standout on the full-length album is the third track on the record, “Karma Kamikaze.”

Music Review: Patience by Mogli

I FIRST HEARD MOGLI'S operatic, ethereal voice and lush song arrangements in the 2017 globally successful Netflix documentary, Expedition Happiness. As codirector of the film, she and fellow traveler Felix Starck chronicled their adventures remodeling an old school bus into a modern tiny home and traveling across Canada, through the American desert and into Mexico. The journey lasted eight months, in which time Mogli wrote a soundtrack for the film entitled Wanderer. The film was inspiring, but what truly captured me was Mogli’s pitch-perfect voice and meandering ambient musical arrangements played behind scenes of a breathtaking North American countryside.

SALIO: Sound of Unity

WITHIN THE FIRST THREE seconds of hearing SALIO, we sent her an offer. Her voice is seasoned with a raspy, velvety tone — equal parts emotion and control. Her songwriting is commanding, and holds the depth of an artist who is in tune with her own creative point of view. “Bring Me Love” is a jazzy, neo-soul tune that makes us move, but the rest of SALIO’s playlist is worth a good listen, with songs like the soulful acoustic ballad “Lonesome Tales,” and a smattering of europop dance and experimental electronica songs.

Kids and Chemicals: Sea of Trees

Written by Tamara Styer

FROM CULT FAVORITE ELECRTO-POP duo Kids and Chemicals comes this dreamy, alternative rock tune that is one of the most inspired tracks we’ve heard this season. Transcendent in its delivery, “Sea of Trees” has brought the band’s sound to a new level. The band’s new single and accompanying music video have gained coverage from publications like clrvynt.com and New Noise Magazine, and coupled with the release of a full-length album entitled After Life, this might be Kids and Chemicals’ most anticipated project yet.

Music Review: Shaun Munday

written by Tamara Styer

SHAUN MUNDAY’S SELF-TITLED debut solo album is a tribute to oldschool blues singers accompanied by Munday’s exquisite acoustic songwriting using only one instrument. He is a bass aficionado, making the guitar sing rhythmically as if it were three instruments in one.

Music Review: Rad Bro by Lucid

by Madison Faulkner

TAKE A JOURNEY with LuciD to the land of the perpetually offensive and vapid creature known as the "Rad Bro." This creature has beguiled and perplexed mankind since it sprang into existence some two years ago, with its trademark practice known as “GTL”, belligerent and outlandish speech patterns, and puzzling, often unsanitary, mating habits. LuciD captures the nature of the beast in their new single, “Rad Bro”, off of their upcoming and highly anticipated sophomore release, On the Record.
