DOWNTOWN SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI’S BURGEONING scene of live music, bars, and restaurants is something that the locals hold near and dear. It’s the place where Deitra Magazine got it’s start, and countless bands, artists and businesses call home base. It’s an often overlooked city most known for corporate bigs like Bass Pro and the Battlefield Mall, but the underbelly of Springfield’s downtown arts scene has been steadily making it’s mark in the Midwest and beyond.
One downtown establishment on our radar is Patton Alley Pub, offering a classic pub environment paired with local craft beer, live music, great food, and friendly service.
Upon approaching Patton Alley Pub, you might see a group of local patrons sitting out front. They’re smoking and vaping and sipping on locally brewed lagers, discussing the climate of the local music scene – doing the things hipsters do. You’re greeted by hugs and laughter, and all other kinds of warm and gushy welcoming feels. For a time, you might join them, taking a seat at a bench outside, the lovely and friendly server appearing out of nowhere to take your drink order. You sit, sip your ale, and enjoy the homey vibe that is slipping over you, becoming your new happy place. With your second beverage, it is indeed becoming an even happier place, and you find yourself sauntering inside for more of this good stuff.
Indoors you’re sure to be high-fived by a slew of regulars and staff who are some of the most friendly in downtown Springfield. It has a homey, chilled-out vibe and an indie / artsy feel that compels you to sit down at a table or booth, grab another locally brewed beverage poured fresh from the tap, and mingle with friends both old and new. Soon you’ll find yourself elbowed up to the bar, engaged in pleasant conversation with the bearded man next to you, and taking in the decor – the moose head mascot hanging on the wall, the wood-top bar, tables, and stools, the chalkboard menu of cold craft brew poured from the tap (the right way, we might add), the folk band playing in the back room… and then you are suddenly, undeniably HUNGRY.
Their personalized pizzas come with your choice of classic tomato pizza sauce or BBQ sauce and an awesome array of unique toppings such as bleu cheese, sautéed onions and peppers, wing sauce, grilled chicken, or wasabi.
The burger toppings are equally as great, with choices like cheddar, swiss, provolone, pepper jack or bleu cheese, cajun seasoning, sautéed mushrooms, bacon, ham, or even a fried egg. Going veggie? The Pub has you covered there too with a veggie burger. Throw in some beer cheese soup served in a cup or a bowl, and if you’re feeling carnivorous, throw in their famous bratwurst to make it a real flavor fest.
One of our favorite things to order at the Pub is the mac and cheese. It’s made with their cheese fondue, and it’s the creamiest, most awesome mac and cheese ever. We like to add sautéed mushrooms, peppers, and sometimes grilled chicken or hamburger. It’s insanely good. Top it all off with an ice cold local beer on tap, and Patton Alley Pub will officially become your favorite new lunch spot.
And Happy Hour, you say? Yes, Happy Hour! It’s every Monday through Saturday from 2:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M., and Sundays from 11:00 A.M. to midnight! That’s right. Happy Hour all day on Sunday! You’ll enjoy some of the best happy hour deals and the longest happy hours we’ve seen in good ole SGF.
On the subject of happy-inducing beverages, Patton Alley Pub offers a full bar, but is building up their arsenal of locally brewed craft beer served out of 45 varieties on tap, the most brew-on-tap you can find in all of Springfield, and the lineup includes our fave regional breweries such as Mother’s, White River, Boulevard, Schlafly, and Leaky Roof Meadery.
The Pub lends a homey feel, with an upbeat, exciting vibe, and titalating atmosphere. It’s patrons are always on their best behavior, and just want to mingle, conversate, listen to good music, and partake in some great beverages and food. If that’s more your bag, then this is the place for you.

This is one of Deitra’s favorite new spots to hang out, meet new people, see old friends, and check out great bands. We’ll be seeing you there! Cheers! DM
