The Menswear Issue: Style & Substance

BOLD PATTERNS AND INTRIGUING TEXTURES CREATE AN AURA OF PLAYFULNESS, WHILE STILL ALLOWING MEN TO DRESS LIKE GODDAMN ADULTS.

The muted cyan of this dotted blazer contrasts sharply with the rich navy shirt and bright red knit tie. If not for the linen pocket square featuring each color, the outfit might feel overwhelming — indicating the degree to which simple details can tie together an otherwise off-balance ensemble.

One cannot overstate the versatility of the color blue which is universally recognized for its unmatched utility. Appearing here in the blazer, shirt details, pocket square and pants, the overall effect is one of distinct composure, despite the differing patterns and textures at play.

Double-breasted jackets run the risk of appearing stuffy and overly serious, but this dressed-down denim version on Ramar Mobley bridges the gap between sophistication and casual elegance.

Town & County, located in Springfield, Missouri's Brentwood shopping center, is a rarity in the retail scene of the Midwest. Its combination of formal wear and bold, trendy offerings makes it a go-to source for well-dressed men throughout the Ozarks.

This boldly-patterned ensemble has a fun, confident feel that proclaims model Reece Drake is unequivocally here for the party.

Warm, earthy tones with minimal contrast play well against Reece's fair complexion, drawing the eye to his face despite the ostentatious patterning of the ensemble.

Whether out on the town or having drinks with friends, these looks imply a rarely seen degree of refinement and culture.

Model Blake Williams' rumpled shirt and loose, knit tie are equal parts casual and classy. Forgoing jeans in favor of these linen pants lends the outfit maturity while keeping it texturally interesting.

The shoot was staged at Villa de Alpine, a palatial showroom for Alpine Wood Products located in Marionville, Missouri. The space, which is also available for receptions and corporate retreats, has a dreamy, upscale vibe that complements the modern-day Gatsby feel of the photo series.   DM
